Scotia Bank has extra reasons to celebrate the West Indies triple Victory. The West Indies youth team started the ‘golden’ run by winning the ICC Youth World Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year, and this was followed by the women taking the ICC World T20 and the men doing likewise a couple of hours later. President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket board and (TTCB) and director of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), Azim Bassarath has singled out Scotia Bank for special mentioned, in the light of positive results. Scotia Bank have partnered with West Indies cricket for many years and supported them through thick and thin.
Bassarath said “while favourable results are now coming the way of Caribbean teams one has to understand the role played by Scotia Bank in their development thrust which is known for bearing fruits”. Bassarath added we have been stressed as cricket administrators in finding funding for our youth programmes and the one thing that has remained constant over the years in the assistance of Scotia Bank. “When I look at the entire set up in terms of the players that are now parading the world stage and making us proud, my mind takes me to investors like Scotia Bank. “I have noticed that many corporate bodies whose interest in the senior teams and the final product because they want maximum mileage. This is not the case with Scotia Bank, they have decided to honor their social corporate responsibility by putting their money at a level which will not get the mileage as the other that those supporting the final product will get.
Bassarath reiterated “This is admirable and this is something that must be recognized at this period in time. On behalf of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) and the West Indies Cricket Board I will like to say a heartfelt thank you to Scotia Bank for their unstinting support of West Indies cricket and to let them know that they too are true champions.”
