Jearlean John has been fired as the managing director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). In a statement released yesterday, the HDC said that John was terminated because her "reaction, demeanour and tone” were said to be “insubordinate and disrespectful”, during a recent meeting with the board of directors.
For the past three months, John, along with six other managers, had been on administrative leave while an independent audit of the HDC was being conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers. She dismissed the reasoning behind her removal, stating that "In Trinidad today you could get terminated on the basis of your tone to a board, that's what it said in the letter."
The termination of John comes only a few days after Marlene McDonald was fired as the Housing and Urban Development Minister, for corruption allegations
