Government To Meet With SWUTT over ArcelorMittal Issue

The Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, has issued a statement saying that the Government will be meeting with the leaders of the Steel Workers Union of Trinidad and Tobago (S.W.U.T.T.) and officials of ArcelorMittal on Friday March 18th

The purpose of the meeting will be for the Government to get all the details regarding the issue with ArcelorMittal and the Steel Workers Union, which saw the foreign company shut down its plant in Point Lisas and releasing more than 600 of its workers. The company has since offered to sell its operations to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

After the meeting on Friday, the Government has scheduled a press conference on Monday 21st , to relay the outcome of the discussions.
