The Univeristy of The West Indies (UWI) St Augustine is set to launch the publication of “In The Fires of Hope -Trinidad and Tobago at 50 ” .
The new book is featured as a two-part publication. Volume One is entitled "Conversations With Prime Ministers". The launch takes place at the Main Salon of the Office of the Campus Principal from 10am. Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal Professor Clement Sankat speaking about the launch said “The St. Augustine Campus of The UWI is extremely proud to produce this publication to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of our host country.”
Volume 1 of the book is edited by Professor Patrick Watson, Director of The UWI's Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Studies (SALISES) and features transcripts of conversations with former Prime Minister and President, Mr. ANR Robinson and former Prime Minister, Mr. Basdeo Panday. It also includes six papers on themes surrounding independence including ‘Woodbrook on the Path to Independence’.
At the launch, Mr. Ewart Williams, Chair of The UWI St. Augustine Campus Council and former Central Bank Governor and other dignitaries will be expected to give a review of the book.
The book’s cover design was done by UWI student, Najé Hart.
