Darren Bravo returned to national colours with a bang but his flashy 82 was not enough to keep T&T Red Force's unbeaten run in this year's regional 50 Over tournament going. Barbados ended a ten game unbeaten run by the Red Force dating back to 2014 when they themselves beat T&T in that year's final. In fact, Barbados is the only team to inflict defeat on the Red Force since the Combined Campuses ended a similar winning streak back in 2013. Notably, the last two times that Barbados were able to overcome T&T, they went on to win the title themselves.
Yesterday's enconter was a must win for the team in Blue and Gold as defeat would mean the end of their tournament with Jamaica poised to qualify for the semi-final after scraping past the ICC Americas team. However, bolstered by seven West Indian players to the rank since the last time these two teams faced, Barbados were able to overhaul the T&T total of 226 with 2 overs to spare. Leaders on the team, Jason Holder with the ball (4/34) and Kraigg Brathwaithe with the bat (48) were the highlights but it was an all-round team effort that got Barbados over the line with nearly every member of the team contributing in some form. Dinesh Ramdin also scored a 50 for T&T as the West Indies contingent stamped their class on the encounter.
Barbados now face Guyana in the 2nd Semi Final after Asad Fudadin carried his bat for a well played 103 against the CCC to ensure Guyana qualified top of the other group. The Windwards 2nd place finish mean they face favourites T&T on Wednesday in the Queen's Park Oval.
