Bubba takes second place in Party Monarch

Bajan producer-turned artiste King Bubba entered the Barbados Crop Over Party Monarch in 2014 with his poplar track “Who drinking Rum.” However, he didn’t get in.
Fast forward one year later, he didn’t just make it to the competition, he finished in second place, and to add icing to the cake, he also got second place in the Crop Over roach march.
Bubba, who entered the Monarch with “Mash Up When Ah Touch Down,” told Triniscene.com “the experience was great, I learnt a lot and connected with my fans while gaining some new ones as well.”
Bubba wrote and produced “When I touch down” with the help of Dwaingerous and Trinidadians Kit Israel and Sekon Sta.
Satisfied with his placing, he went on to say “second was a great achievement amongst veterans most of whom won monarchs before, and I’m excited to do it again next year.”
Bubba first started his singing career with the breakthrough hit “We Want Drinks” in 2012 but he admitted to not taking it seriously until last year when he released “Who Drinkin Rum” with Sekon Sta.
The Bajan soca man is currently in Miami doing studio work, and will travel to London from Thursday for performances during Notting Hill Carnival, after which he will return to the US for Labour Day celebrations.
