Chutney Star Survives Robbery

Soca Chutney Star Rikki Jai, Samraj Jaimungal, was shot at and robbed around midnight yesterday at the Speedway Building in San Juan.

It was reported that Jaimungal, who is a semi finalist in both the International Soca Monarch and Chutney Soca Monarch competitions this year, had just finished rehersals with his band when he noticed a suspicious suspicious Nissan B14 vehicle driving around the area. When Jaimungal attempted to leave the scene he was approached at gun point by the driver of the vehicle who fired a shot in the Chutney star's direction.

Jaimungal said that he had to beg for his life and was robbed of cash and a cell phone.

He his grateful that to still have his life and urged the authorities to catch the criminals responsible for the traumatising ordeal.

Police are continuing investigations into the incident
