Defending regional 50 Over champions, the T&T Red Force raced to an emphatic victory over the Jamaica Scorpions as action got underway in the WICB Nagico Super50 Tournament here in T&T. The home team batted first at the Queen's Park Oval and managed to make it to 221 in their 50 overs, despite losing wickets throughout their innings. The total was made possible by a classy 74 from Evin Lewis and some late order hitting by deposed captain Rayad Emrit(43) and bowler Marlon Richards (31).
Richards then returned with the ball to claim five wickets to end the Jamaican chase before it really began, ending with figures of 5/36. The Jamaicans ended on 137 runs with no batsmen passing 30, to give Jason Mohammed a winning start as the T&T limited overs captain.
The Red Force's 221 proved to be the highest score of all the four games played today. the Windward Volcanoes were the only other team to pass 200, scoring 214 to win a rain shortened game against Guyana by the Duckworth-Lewis method in St. Kitts. Barbados also had a victory, chasing down 183 scored by the invited Americas team with relative ease. The final game between the Leewards and Combined Campuses was also rain affected.
