A post mortem on the body of Anastasia Ramkissoon has confirmed that her death was due to viral associated pneumonia. Ramkissoon, of Tunapuna, developed flu-like symptoms during her pregnancy and died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Attempts were made to save her unborn baby via c-section but to no avail. The Health Ministry issued a release confirming the cause of death and reminded citizens that the influenza vaccine remains freely available at health centers. The Ministry also urged citizens to practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of air borne diseases. Ramkissoon's death brings the total to four confirm deaths for 2015 attributed to the H1N1 virus.
TS Access first brought the evidence of a resurgence in the virus to the attention of the country back in October.
