Carnival Supplier goes up in flames

One of the country’s largest suppliers of Carnival material, suffered severe losses this morning as their warehouse along Boundary Road in San Juan, was engulfed in flames.

According to reports, Samaroo Party Supplies, suffered an estimated loss of between $10 million to $12 million. Eye witnesses say that at around 3 a.m. there was heavy smoke coming from Nahouse Warehouse Limited.  Fire fighters were contacted to the scene, but when they arrived the flames had completely engulfed the warehouse and had spread to Samaroo’s, near the front of the building.

Steve Samaroo, the owner of the business, said that while there are two other outlets located in San Fernando and Movietowne, Port of Spain, however, the warehouse that burned down contained most of their stock.

The business has since issued a statement saying the remaining outlets will continue to function as usual while the matter with the fire at its Boundary Road establishment is addressed.

Meanwhile five other business in Nahouse Warehouse, were also affected by the fire. They were Norman Industries, Compass Garments, Just For Hair, US Appliances and Freezy Beverages. The estimated total damage is said to be at around $25 million.

The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
