AG: CBTT Governor should've talked to Imbert

Meanwhile Attorney General (AG) Faris Al-Rawi says the Central Bank Governor is legally obligated to check with the Finance Minister before making statements such as the one made recently about the country being in recession.

Speaking to the media following a luncheon hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the AG said he found it curious that Rambarran would make the announcement but the fourth quarter is not yet over.

However, he steered clear of any comment on what action can be taken against Rambarran for his statements recently he said that will be for the Finance Minister and the Central Bank Governor to deal with, adding that he does not want to rush too far ahead to say there is any issue or problem.
