Hadeed replaces Bharath in the Senate

Former Communication Minister Gerald Hadeed has been appointed Senator to replace Vasant Bharath.

On advice of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, President Anthony Carmona said the appointed was effective December 7th. Hadeed now fills the seat left void when Former Trade Minister Bharath resigned on November 11th when he signalled his intention to run for the post of Political Leader of the United National Congress in the internal elections on December 5th.

Just before the Senate broke for lunch, Senate President Christine Kangaloo made the announcement and Hadeed was sworn in. Hadeed also served as Tourism Minister under the People's Partnership Government.
