New make-up brand hits the local market

Get ready for a brand new premium home-grown make-up brand to hit the market!
The LunaMar brand is set to launch on Thursday at the Normandie Hotel, bringing to life the dream of two long time High School friends Oriana Sabga and Kathryn Inniss.

The duo grew up with a passion for make-up, but after finishing school, both women went on to have flourishing careers in marketing and sales. Their friendship and entrepreneurial spirits saw them cross paths again, this time as business partners.

Both mothers of two and career women, Oriana and Kathryn never let the hassle of their daily routine take away the essence of being a woman; make-up helped them not only look- but more importantly, feel beautiful.

Priding themselves on being "fashion forward make-up fanatics who are true sticklers when it comes to using clean, high quality products," Kathryn said in an interview with Triniscene that customers can expect delivery of nothing less from their luxury brand which was inspired by the Caribbean's rich, colourful and exotic culture, and is applicable to any skin tone.

So what does the name mean?

“The brand name LunaMar, meaning Moon and Sea, is in fact a subtle representation of the soul of the Caribbean and Latin America. The brand owners, one being of Caribbean descent and one of Latin American descent, wanted a name and image that all cultures and nations could relate to,” the entrepreneurs said.

“The moon and the sea are both iconic forces of life which represent beauty, power, illumination, and colour,” they told Triniscene.

LunaMar says its high quality products are composed of the finest ingredients, while their pigments and lip-stains in particular are all natural, carbon free and vegan friendly.

How did their story begin?

They said they always played with the idea of launching their own business, but it was only a year and a half ago they switched gears and put their focus on bringing the brand to life. Oriana brought her love for make-up artistry while Kathryn brought her marketing talents.

Oriana and Kathryn said “LunaMar products were born out of the desire to create safe, beautiful and trendy make-up for the mix of cultures and skin tones throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.”

The company says following the launch, the products will be available for sale at The Shop at Hotel Normandie, and will be made available for online purchase by the end of the year.
