Hunt still on for prison cell escapee

The hunt continues for Peter Solomon who escaped from his cell at the Port-of-Spain CID on Monday. The incident occurred just before he was to appear in court on charges of being a gang member and for being in possession of a bullet proof vest.

He was arrested last Thursday by officers of the Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit

Speaking to the media at the Police weekly media briefing this morning, head of the Criminal Investigation Division Senior Superintendent Glenn Hacket, said an evaluation of holding cells in stations across the country is to begin.

In an interview with the media on Tuesday, Police Social and Welfare Association President, Anand Ramesar called on both National Security Minister, Edmund Dillion and Acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams to investigate the incident, and investigate the cells in order to determine their adequacy for housing prisoners.
