Opposition Chief Whip Dr Roodal Moonilal says the United National Congress is in bad shape. Speaking with the media this morning, Dr Moonilal said he agreed with statements by former Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan, that the party is in need of healing and change especially in its political leadership.
Dr Khan said he does not support political leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s bid to run for re-election to the post, but he would support chairmanship. Speaking with the media this morning, Dr Moonilal distanced himself from poor management of the party as deputy political leader, saying he’s operating on instructions received from the political leader.
Dr Moonilal said at the moment clearer lines of division and responsibility are being discussed so that there is greater accountability. The deputy political leader says he will make an announcement by the weekend on whether or not he will be running for election to the post of political leader of the UNC.
The party announced internal elections carded for December 5th, with nomination day set for November 20th.
